Carolina Crown 2009 rehearses sections of the show 7/16/09

Carlina Crown running through sections of their 2009 show "The Grass Is Always Greener..." This video has three sections, first is the Storm intro after the pre-show, then moves onto the Over The Rainbow ballad chunk, and ends with the Closer of the show.

why does the hornline sound so bad in this video?? they usually sound terrific

I think a bit of it is the camera I used, and also the wind. I was sitting kinda high up in the bleachers, and it was a windy day. Kinda cut out some of the horn sound on the video.

It sounded fine in real life =]

A couple of Baritones and a few lead Sopranos stuck out SO much during that run. I hope it was only the wind

This is definitely not a great day for the brass. I know its an excuse, but I can tell you from experience that those mid-July days are the toughest. Hornlines always reach an awkward stage then. Who out there has that experience about the brass in mid-July. It just seems to get worse for a bit. And its hot and dusty. The worst. But I agree, a lot of ticks for one of the best hornlines in history.

@dhouse876 Also, it's really hot... the hornline is a good 15-20 cents higher than the pit, which really throws things off.

The center snare in this video (Sharif) was my snare tech this year at Scouts. He said he watches the finals DVD of this show and he doesn't know why they even got 2nd, and for the very reason you just mentioned. He said visually they were not even a "top 5 worthy" corps. So I will have to agree with you.

Boy they changed up the closer really good. I loved the final ending. Greatest show I've seen so far. Love it crown

they arent practicing at their full potential, because of the show later if they did they wouldnt be able to blow people away at the show!
