"Gott erhalte, Gott beschütze, unsern Kaiser, unser Land!" Am 1. April 1989 erklang in Wien die alte Hymne. An diesem Tag wurde Zita, die Frau des letzten österreichischen Kaisers, zu Grabe getragen.

Tonight I'm attending a conference about the life of Imperatrice Zita in Montreal (Quebec, Canada), the conference is given by Archiduc Rudolf of Austria. I didn't knew before but she lived in Quebec for over 9 years !

@Purplecatsoup30 I was quoting an earlier poster who had referred to the Habsburgs as parasites, not adopting their sentiment. And there's no need to swear at me. And, if you bother to read my posting in full, you might understand that I am a supporter of the Dual Monarchy and the benefits it might have brought to Oesterreich and Hungary, had it survived the Great War as a unified monarchy. Also, perhaps the suffix 'au' is too subtle. It means Australia. No Yankee here

@drnknbois Seh ich voellig anders. Die Voelker der Hapsburg-Monarchie hatten nach der Aufloesung der KK-Monarchie keine gute Geschichte. Heute blickt man mit Wohlwollen auf das Kaiserreich von Franz-Joseph I zurueck. Die meisten seiner Voelker mussten spaeter unter Diktaturen (Nazis, Kommunismus) leiden.
Die KK-Monarchie war der Vorlaeufer eines multi-nationalen Europas.
