the first method doesn't cross in the back if you tuck one end under the other, i usually prefer to bring what will end up being my right side on the bottom...

@fmjausmerican - Which side of the belt? I had a Japanese translator provide me with the best Kanji interpretation of our school name - Maximum Impact Karate. The kanji for karate is very easy to recognize Japanese.

I got my gi and i put it on and the sleeves went pasted my arms and in length it went all the way down to my knees is it too big

@EpicCgan - Kenpo Karate ties the belt with the knot on the opposite side.
