Around 2:35 is still my fav guitar riff of all times. Noone got that sound in grind or thrash until Bill Steer, and that was eons later. I guess David Cunningham should have some credit for that rad biting sound too...
Yeah, the "post-punk" label is terrible; punk, but not punk. Really I prefer "Artpunk" which this is; attitude and angst, but not elementary musically.
I remember hearing this on broadcast, aged 14, and it scared the bejaysus out of me. I loved the punk stuff that was about then, but this took me miles out of my comfort zone. Which is why, of course, I had to hear more. Great post!
