The slow middle section is played with transcendental genius. The piano is Cziffra's orchestra and he is a superb conductor

I don't usually have anything negative to say about Cziffra but he kinda disapointed me in this one. I couldn't enjoy it with this speed/tempo changes.
-
Very personal and beautiful rendition...!! Cziffra is always the "great" Cziffra...!!
-
cziffra is awesome but his tempo bending is... sometimes unsuitable hahaha
-
@profdezik Lots of great pianist from the past, but Cziffra is the best.
-
Fantastic played, but I like it another way. I prefer this piece played with more dignity and a firm, not rushed, tempo. But, he is one of the greatest anyway!
-
i do not like how he messes around with the tempo. the piece loses a bit of its severity if its stressed to much.
i prefer listsa and ashkenazy :D

@krisspaddy Tell us how did you come to that grand conclusion? Im almost certain that none of ifreshwater's, jodhcampbell0 or my own comments made any reference to our knowledge or experience with rachmaninoff or cziffra what so ever. You should take a leap from your own book here and learn to walk before you can run.... Also - stop being lazy and actually click reply instead of just commenting on the video itself where people dont actually get notified that you are responding to them...
-
@ifreshwater Agreed sometimes I wonder why I even engaged in conversation with krisspaddy. It just seems so futile ..... sigh

You really should learn to walk before you try and run.
Seems from your comments that you know very little about either Rachmaninoff or Cziffra at all.
Very Cziffra-ish...as someone(?) once said, "like a grenade had been dropped inside the piano..."

"Vladimir Ashkenazy does a way better job if anyone is interested."
You say it as a opinion when in fact it IS a opinion. No , he did not "butcher" it up. Thats once again another opinion of YOURS.
And who said he did NOT bring the "melody in the middle" as you say it. Only you as I can see from everyones comments.
Everyone has the right to express how they feel how a pianist , has his interpretation but the the middle part was not exceeded in Tempo. It was played rather correctly.
