I'm not to sure but I think the bike was a tounge in cheek reference to the last episode of The Prisoner which if I can remeber was shown on channel 4 .Still made no sense in 1984 as it did in the 60's.

What a surprise there! there was a bike instead of the Channel 4 ident being played with Fourscore at closedown.

In Channel 4's early days, I was surprised that they used to closedown as the as the same time as BBC.
