thats the scope i use. Its important to get a good cam too I have a Canon20D which Canon designed to use in astrophotography, its only fault is its weight which is like 7 ounces over the rated weight the EQ mount can handle, to start you cant ask for a better rig

Is the skyview a goodtelescope for depp space astrophotography?

The optics on mine were top notch and the mount is rock solid, out of the box. I first added the standard motor drives that Orion makes for the Pro Mount to start astrophotography, and they work fine for exposures say under 1 min but a Periodic error blurred any deep long exposures.
