Looks like it's to reduce the shock loads when the hitting the power hard or deceleration of the shaft(s) for the SC. I'm wondering how elastic the solid one is to prevent it from cracking over time.
So is the solid isolator a definite fix? I'm borrowing my uncle's '09 and I've noticed some clicking at 1500-2000rpm under part throttle. It's not something crazy loud but sounds like one of those clicking bicycle wheels. I don't know if you remember but we took your CTS-V for a lap at Talladega when you came down here.

Yes it is definatly the fix for the noise.
Hopefully i will get to take the car over there again this year, it was pretty fun. Im at 750 rwhp now in that car, so it should be alot more complicated to handle. :D
If your uncle needs any parts, i can make that thing alot more fun for him. We have alot of parts in stock for them for any horsepower level he would want.
