dogs are scavengers, not carnivores, necessarily

I started taking chia seeds in place of flax seed 3 weeks ago. 1st thing in the morning I take 1/2 the juice of a grapefruit and lemon with chia and chase it with hot greet tea or yerba mate. First of all it cleanses your stomach and I have been sleeping so much better. I can now sleep 8-9 hours and before i was maxking out at 6 hours. I don't feel as depressed either which may be from the omega 3 and the better sleeping.

I can't believe that someone would feed a carnivore an herbivore diet. I feel bad for this dog. How could someone do this to a dog? This is some kind of an abuse. I am a vegetarian but I would never force a vegetarian or a vegan diet on a dog. Look at their teeth and look at ours, their teeth is meant for tearing meat and ours are meant for grinding vegetables and grains.

You know there is NO scientific proof that eating vegetables raw is more nutritious than cooked, right? And dont get me wrong, I have a huge garden that I eat out of raw and cooked./Gotta go reload my crack pipe.

Let the dog eat horse meat. I went to Costa Rica and got my chakras realligned. I ate some Tofu and raw vegetables with some wheat grass juice. Then I drank jungle juice, took some acid and cheated on my girlfriend. Oh btw my kids were at grandmas house in Redwood City. I hope their ok. Well gotta go find my third eye. Toodles

This is awful. You're entitled to your own opinion, of course, but the thought of a human idealism forced upon an animal is just incomprehensible to me. It's like trying to convince a canary to become a Republican. Animals are the ideal model, not people. Let them be. If you want to feed raw and natural...feel free. But for a dog or a cat, that should include raw meat. Anything else is just vain glorification and the worst example of self service since the "civilization" of the American Indians.

This has to be one of the worst things I have ever heard. Dogs are domesticated creature which in the wild would eat mostly all meat. I would guarantee that your dog, if given the choice between your vegan slop and a hunk raw chicken backbone, would take the meat every time. Get a clue and dont force your beliefs on a creature that has no choice but to take what its given. Your neglect of your animals needs are abuse.

A "100 Mile Diet" question: Where do Chia seeds come from, where R they native to? Being bald I agree it's a worthwhile food given all the potential benefits Michelle listed. Then I know this 100 Mile reality is a tuff nut for us northerners 2 swallow. But it's very important from both health & enviro perspectives. Our native/local foods keep in check how our climate extremes effect us. This is from TCM (Trad. Chin. Med). Then the waste of transport foods from far flung places=modern imperialism
Dog.
Family: Canidae
Order: Carnivora
Just saying :/

Dogs are domestic animals, just like pigs and chickens and cows. It is morally repugnant to vegans to feed our companions murdered farm animals because we like our companion animals better.
Lots of research out there that shows how well dogs do on vegan diets. Mine both are vegan, for about five years, and they are very healthy and happy. It is not natural to feed dogs diseased animals parts either. Please do a little research. We are very good to our companions.
