Battletoads for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES): I still remember when I was 9 years old and my father bought me this game. I was a kid about 7 years of age when I got
my first Nintendo. All I played back then was Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt. Later came games like Zelda ,Iron Tank, and let's not forget Metal Gear and Ninja Gaiden, titles that were released on the Nintendo Entertainment System.

I've been speed running games since back then, before that word could probably even be found on Google or Wikipedia. I would just play a game and see how far I could get as fast I could get.

In some cases, with certain games, without even getting hit, and if hit I would start completely over. Ive even tried beating other games without getting damaged even once, like Doom for example. Ive tried too do a speed run of that game without getting damaged for years, as well as Duke Nukem 3D on damn Im good difficulty for The Nintendo 64.

I still remember one of my good friends always getting pissed because when I played it, if I got hit even once, I would hit the reset button and he would get irritated by it. lol.... yes Paul I'm talking about you... hee hee!

When I was growing up it was a normal thing for me as for the others, a lot of people I know started getting into it when games like Resident Evil 2 and Metal Gear Solid came out for the Playstation.

I started to notice a jump in people trying to complete games like that with or without getting damaged in less then 2 hours...

The idea of speed running was created by Enthusiasts like myself .
Originally people recorded on things like A VHS cassette and sent off somewhere.
And then later, people started using the internet too share their videos and compare times.
Even communities were created online just for speed runs, so it has become quite popular over the years.

Its been a long time, but here I am, still attempting the impossible on games; and since I just got a new DVD recorder on Christmas Eve, 2009, it has been a great gift.

So, this started a chain reaction I guess you could say. The first thing I did that day was upload all my replays saved on my Xbox 360's HDD of matches I played online from Dead or Alive 4 (DOA4)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_or_Alive_4

After that, I purchased an S-Video cable from Newegg
http://www.newegg.com/

And then used the cable too plug my laptop into the DVD-Recorder too bring you
What you will probably be watching already lol...

The features of this DVD Recorder are something else. In the options, which I just recently noticed, it has a feature called Auto-Chapter which is great for youtube users because you can edit how long each chapter is, so I selected ten minutes! :)

Anyway, it goes without saying that Ive been playing Battletoads for many years
and Im still playing it. and Id love too see a sequel to this absolutely incredible video game.

In this speed run I finally managed too complete a Perfect Run in 0:37:50
NO CHEATS - NO WARPS - NO DAMAGE - NO LIVES LOST

So enjoy! And hopefully I can upload the entire video sometime rather then in split parts.
I guess I will make sure to store this DVD in a safe place somewhere, until that day comes.

Heads up too all the guys over at Rare™ that made this game possible back in 1991

Heads up to all the fellow runners out there!

To the people that decided to read this, I apologize for how long the description is, but I feel that this has a bit of history, so I had too make sure I explained how it all started from the get go.

Thank you for reading and thanks for watching!

  • Quite possibly the greatest feat in the history of video games.

  • is the sodas and junk-food dialogue at the end a special ending? I've only seen the one about the sweet smell of success clearing out your sinuses.

  • @charlie217009 Yeah that 4 player race was amateur compared to this O_O. I still loved it though. ;3

  • @torasbjoern I just got to correct myself "that's exactly what I thought too." :-)

  • 28:02: too close

  • @charlie217009 Lol, that's exactly what I thought to. He would be complete with the entire game before they were done with the third level. :-p

  • he maxed out his score on the hit to kill the final boss. Fucking epic

  • I've never seen the 'proper' way out of 6-4 before

  • Words cannot describe this god-like runthrough. They just can't.

  • ...*single tear
