we paid 149,000 for a house that Zillow says is still worth 218,000.

Fortunately, my wife and I passed8th grade math and knew what we could really afford.

I overbought as well, BUT I CAN AFFORD to make the payments. I'm just pissed that I'm paying a 300K mortgage on a 150K house in D.C.

Best thing for these idiots that bought way above their means is to put them on the street, no negative credit report and let them start over. Of course, I'm sure will not have learned a thing!

Here is an easy solution...she moves out, leaving the keys on the porch. Whatever balance is left is paid to the bank by the stimulus plan.

No thanks. I do not want to help this woman or her family. The banks told us we could aford a much more expensive home too - guess what - WE DIDN'T!!! We looked at the payment and bought a house we could afford if we lost our income. If the government bails these people out I am going to want to stop paying my mortgage too! At least we actually PAY income taxes that help bailout all these idiots.
