This kinda reminds me of the ending fight scene in the 2002 movie "The Time Machine" where the ubermoorlock is knocked outside the sphere and deteriorates rapidly. Another scene that comes to mind is the holy grail scene in 1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."
