Helen Slater was really the only real highlight of the film. She did a good job as Linda Lee / Kara and Supergirl. If they had written a better story, the movie might have done well. I have the Limited Edition DVD version and I showed the movie to some friends who were not even aware that the movie existed.

@Ronclown The Supergirl movie was based on the comic books;in the comic books, Supergirl was Superman's Kryptonian cousin. It definitely would has helped the movie if the writers could had included Superman in the movie, maybe even had a scene near the end where Lex Luthor lures Superman into a trap and Supergirl rescues him.

I thought Helen did a great job, it's just that the script and story was a little weak. They should have given her a better villian to fight. ;)

I think the criticism of Slater in this film by many critics is unfair. I don't know exactly how old she was when she made it, but give the flat direction and weak script, I don't think Slater is responsible for the deficiencies of the character. I thought she looked right for the part and tried her best to give it some life, even if her inexperience.showed through at times.
