1977 Honda 550.
Ok a lot of people have had questions so I put this together. Hopefully it will help. Well from looking on youtube, You will see that there are many different stiles of bobbers or what people call bobbers. I dont know what exactly you are going to do with yours but here are a couple tips. If your bike is a running bike now and everything is there thats great.

My bike has the stock Honda 550 frame and the rear swingarm was cut off. Ok, If you are going to cut the rear swing arm off and build a hard tail the way mine is, it is very important to make sure everything is in line and stright. There are so many different ways to build a bike depending on the look you want. I wanted a rat bike and thats what mine is. I have about $1,000.00 into my entire bike including the purchase. It was done in the back yard with no jig to line it up or anything. My back tire leans very slightly to the left but it doesn't affect the chain coming off or anything. As a matter of fact I cant kill my bike. Ive tried, it just wont die. The only thing I would change is that the down tube right under the seat is gone and that's what probably adds to the cool look but I only weigh like 145 lbs so its not a prob. If you are heavy then leave that tube in. I once heard a guy say that his car wasn't a rat ride and that the difference is that a rat ride is unsafe and his car was safe. Well he's a fag. My bike is definitely a rat ride and its probably unsafe but then im a real man and that's what makes it fun. Im not in anyway suggesting you build something that is going to fall apart when your doing like 80 mph down the highway. That could leave a mark somewhere. The 750 im building is going to be a hard tail but im going to incorporate the rear swing arm into it. This way it will be completely straight like stock.

My front wheel is a 21 inch Harley rim brand new there like $40.00. Then I called a company out in Cali. that makes spokes. I wish I could remember who I used out there. Dam. Well I told them what my stock hub and new Harley wheel were and they made me spokes. $100.00. I laced the wheel my self. Very easy. The 21 inch wheel makes a big difference in looks. The rear wheel on my 550 is an 18 inch wheel. On the 750 im building it's a 16inch wheel. I used the front fender as the rear fender. But make sure it's welded good. They are very thin and can break easily only if someone is sitting on it. My girlfriend rides on my back fender with a small seat all the time. Once the weld broke loose and thank god she wasnt on it. I just noticed it was kind of hanging. If its a hard tail then make sure everything is mounted with rubber bushings because with these high rpm motors it will vibrate things loose. Oh yeah I put an electronic ignition in mine but I drilled two holes in the side cover to let it cool because they can get to hot and go bad. I also got better coils. I also got a larger sprocket in the front for a little more highway speed. I dont have a rear brake right now but im making stuff up for one. Make sure all of the welds are good. Im sure you will have a million questions so feel free to ask anytime I hope this helped in some way. I would try to keep it real simple and use most of the stock parts instead of buying after market gay yupy chrome. Unless thats the look you want. And then you're a gay yupy. Thanks for the interest Id like to see everyones bikes when there done. RIDE HARD BUT RIDE SAFE!

  • I have a question. If the clutch is on the left, and the shifter is on the left how do you shift when riding? You shift it into first with your leg but how do you get to 2nd, 3rd, etc on the road?
