Cleo the hedgehog. Poor Cleo died in September of 2007 from Wobbly Hedgehog Syndrome. This video was in August '07. I hope they can find a way to save hedgehogs from this disease, it's heartbreaking :( I took this video after cleo fell while eating and was stuggling to get back to her food, after this I started propping her up between two dish towels to eat more comfortably.

  • WHS is a neurological disorder, but not much is really known about it. Unfortunately it does make them more then just wobbly, it eventually progresses to nearly complete to complete paralysis. Cleo, the hedgehog in my video, also became very emaciated in the late stages of WHS, no matter how much she ate, she kept losing weight. Her appetite never left, but her body didn't seem able to gain nourishment from anything I fed her.

  • Omg... poor little hedghy. It makes me sad to think about hedghehogs having such a hoeeible disorder :( .

  • this is so sad :((

  • mine died today :(

  • @MadiRich

    Where's the evidence for that?

  • @allsurvivor The cause of WHS is unknown. So just because a hedgehog has it doesn't mean that the cause is inbreeding.

  • hedgehogs aren't meant to be pets.

  • That usually happens from IN BREEDING hedgehogs...so where ever anyone has had a hedgie with WHS contact the breeder right away
