Channel 31 reinvented itself in the Spring of 1981 as KRBK, airing movies, game shows and syndicated TV series in attempted competition with powerful independent KTXL. These promos ran incessantly throughout March of '81.

  • great promo block.

  • Thanks, Tap.

I was inspired by the great commercial blocks you posted.

  • Note there was an extra zero in the "$50,000 Pyramid" byline screen promo wording by mistake?

  • They ran this promo over and over and over for almost a month and never fixed it! Drove me crazy at the time.

  • All these shows are tons better than the garbage that airs now. TV is in such sad shape :(

  • So this was basically saying "We'll soon have some good shows on instead of this boring crap you're watching now!" I moved to the area in '79 and remember there probably wasn't much worth taping on KMUV- I saw Davey & Goliath a few times and some of those weird family dramas with underlying religious themes. I remember when channel 31 suddenly 'got better'.

  • @heine71 No, actually I think in the first trip to The Winners Circle on this version of "Pyramid", the players played for $5,000 (I'd check Wikipedia or any number of game show sites, because I never really watched this version).

  • Did KRBK Channel 31 air The Joker's Wild and Tic Tac Dough?

  • OMG Suzanne Pleschette was the most SMOKING hot woman, in the history of TV! So sad that she's gone now. =[ That part where Barbara Eden was floating into the room was pretty tech, for that time in special effects production. How did she sit so still and get carried in the room like that,? Maybe like a plexiglass sheet or somethng? Maybe it wouldnt look so cool, if I actually watched it on my 1080p now and could see the flaws, lol.

  • Is that Hans Conried on the "Cross Wits" promo?

  • Obviously, not much of a budget to work with. You gotta give it to 'em for doing what they could with what they had. I remember the early 70s when it was KMUV--the Movie Station.

  • I noticed there were 4 zeroes after the comma.

  • I'd watch that station all day with a lineup like that!

  • Good lord, as a tiny one I used to be fascinated by the transitions by the promo cards at the end... the flipping, the spinning, maybe a simple wipe... all preceded by simple orange text. I loved channel 31 as a kid.

Every time I flip by KMAX, I still think of it as KRBK.

  • There's now a $1,000,000 Pyramid card game that is part of the Endless Games Quick Picks series!

  • Ah, yes... I always got a good laugh out of the title of the show looking like it was the $500,000 Pyramid instead of $50K. Tsk, tsk, tsk...
