Tough Guy is the worlds safest, most dangerous taste of mental and physical pain, fear and endurance. Taking place at the end of January, often in freezing winter conditions, the Tough Guy race is staged over a course of between seven and eight miles. It consists of a cross-country run followed by an assault course. Before taking part, entrants must sign a death warrant and running the course involves risking barbed wire, cuts, scrapes, burns, dehydration, hypothermia, acrophobia, claustrophobia, electric shocks, sprains, twists, joint dislocation and broken bones.
In January 2010, 14 members of the BRJ Roadrunners in Huntingdon decided to brave the Tough Guy course. It would turn out to be a gruelling 3 hour challenge
in some of the coldest conditions the race has ever been run in. Braving thick ice, freezing water, blazing flames, cloying mud, dark tunnels and daunting heights, the team faced the course and themselves and emerged victorious with all runners completing the course.
