This was an interesting battle. In the beginning, he alternates between Geysir and a regular attack, and again the speed is inconsistent. Either that, or he does nothing on the turn after the regular attack. He counters everything with a barrier change, and since we're using Frog, you kinda want him to use Water often. Thankfully, he did it very often in this battle, so that it didn't last forever.

A good thing about using Frog is that an attack with the Masamune after a barrier change will make his magic defense lower. I also used the Hero Medal to get critical hits more frequently.

After a while, he starts using Dark Matter only, and he uses it like every third turn. That makes this part of the battle much easier. Frog needs Barrier to survive it, and in this game, a Barrier lasts for a certain amount of time, regardless of battle speed. So, if you want to make it last for more turns, you need to turn up the battle speed.

With the battle speed at max, this is a very intense battle. Especially during the first part. One small mistake here will end it way too soon, something that did happen quite a few times. To sum it up, this is a completely strategy reliant and hard battle, and that's just the way I like it.

  • This...this was epic, truly epic. What a battle. This is the kind of boss fight Magus should always be! Just a step away from death every step of the way. No luck, just utmost skill and timing. That's the best RPG battle I've seen in a long, long time. I applaud you, sir. Chrono Trigger doesn't get much better than this! I'm surprised my computer didn't explode from the epicness overload.

I eagerly await what lies ahead...

  • This time I can agree that it's an epic battle. Seriously, Masa/Mune is nothing compared to this :P

  • Surprised you didn't opt for extra HP for extra safety. I remember when I did this battle in the LLG ages ago, I barely had enough time to end the battle after running out of Barriers.

  • I figured I had just enough HP, and that Hero Medal sure helped.

  • Low level Frog practically soloing Magus is FULL of poetic justice and awesome!

  • Are you kidding us? xD

  • I know at least two game characters that could beat Magus. Alex (Golden Sun) or Jaffar (Fire Emblem)

  • Yeah, the best battles are always those where there's no luck, just pure skill and strategy.

  • Ha! What noobs! Everyone knows about Final Fantasy Tic-Tacs: The Delicious Mint Candy from Square-Enix.

  • Well yeah, but that's because nobody's greater than Magus. Not Sephiroth. Not anybody! *fanboy mode XD* Not even anyone (guest or otherwise) starring in Dissidia! Magus FTW!

  • Something only elitist snobs claim to have; it's just a myth. Anyone can be 'good' at Final Fantasy. Tactics, my ass; fight the power!

...Wait, there's a GAME called "Final Fantasy Tactics"? Total mind-blow...

  • What is Final Fantasy Tactics?

  • It's a joke, you twit. Orlandu is a horribly overpowered, broken character in Final Fantasy Tactics, as Garland will know only too well.
