After polishing, can a urethane clear be applied on the aluminum? I'm thinking of using this and Glisten PC by POR-15 to refinish an OEM wheel. Thanks.

When Gord's is aapplied with a buffer the sealer will not let the clear coating you are trying to apply stick. Using #0000 Steel wool and Gord's Polish every 2 months will keep the wheels looking top notch all year long. If you warm the rim to about 120F I am sure you would probably be able to get the coating to dry before it runs off the sealer. Use a portable heater to try this out. I see there is no sense in applying a coating. When it starts to peel you need to strip the wheel.

Gord - Dont use your polish on a Alcoa Dura Bright Wheel.

You can use Gord's to clean the heavy dirt and grime that is stuck on the dura bright rims. Gord's Polish will not hurt them. Don't use the buffer process as that will create good friction between the pad and dura bright surface causing them to dull. After a few years the dura bright starts to come off and you need to remove that coating. Klean Strip makes a good stripper KS-3 Premium Stripper, this will remove all coatings, gelcoat, clearcoat and all paint off aluminum sufaces. Thanks Gord

thats not polished !! lookes only marginally better than a 10yr old wheel thats been soaked w acid every month ... no offense but if someone wants a "show quality" polished wheel there is no "easy" way it takes multiple steps with multiple products and lots of work ... good enough for a work truck that no one sees sitting still tho

The rest of this video must have been deleted......After your done making a mess on your tires, find some industrial cleaner to remove the over spray from the sidewalls and rinse thoroughly, repolish the wheels because whatever you use to clean the rubber will dull the wheels all over again. WIN WIN!

I am a trucker in The United Kingdom. My truck has a set of 5 year old alcoa rims on but they have never been maintained. They seem kinda stained if not pitted with dirt. Being on the road I don't have air buffers etc but was wondering if there was a way I could use elbow grease to shine them up to some standard?

Ive seen some chemical people who advertise like an acid chemical cleaner. Do you recommend?

MySuper is correct, I polish wheels and tanks for a living, if my work was this poor of quality I would not make it. I am producing a mechanical, portable polishing unit that does not cost $10k for those who do what I do. Most of these videos are novices, there are a few really good polishers, but far and few between... Scotch Brite and such is ok for resurfacing, but they did not show the steps and processes for mirror quality finishing. I make my own compounds and polishes.

I build aluminum truck bodies out of RAW ALUMINUM and we polish the RAW ALUMINUM with Gords and it NEVER GOES AWAY!! It will hold the original shine for a few months and they STILL SHINE TWO YEARS LATER!
