A step-by-step tutorial on how to replace the headphone jack & hold switch assembly in the iPod Video 5th generation (30gb, 60gb, or 80gb). Anyone with a little patience should be able to complete this repair on their own with the right tools.

This will correct:
-Music playing through just one ear
-Hold switch not working properly

Parts and tools kits are available on our website: http://www.gadgetmenders.com/parts/Headphone_Jack_Hold_Switch_For_iPod_Video.php

  • YES! I just fixed my Ipod! I feel like a kid with a new toy!

    Thank you GadgetMenders!

  • YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW HOW GRATEFUL I AM FOR THIS VIDEO.

Yesterday i was working out at the gym and my ipod fell and completely broke apart. I seriously thought i was gonna burst out into tears..

Not only am i completely dependent on my ipod, but this particular one has sooooo much history behind it.. i think i'm the third or fourth owner and it was given to me by my former best friend who is god knows where right now..

I think i might actually have to break the silence and tell him about this ;)

  • This vedio is going to really help me because I have an ipod 30gb vedio that no sound comes out the headphone jack or dock connecter

  • really helpful!!!! thanks!!! :)

  • Thanks! This video really helped me. For the cost of the headphone jack & a set of TINY phllips head screwdrivers, I got my ipod back! It was a simple fix with the help from your video. Thanks again!

  • So my head phones were acting funny (Music only coming out of one headphone) and that flap that sits in between the battery and the metal housing for the headphones. Well I was testing it and I pushed the flap down and it started to work (Both headphones worked) so I just sit the battery on the flap to hold it down and it works. What is the worst thing that can happen? More a less worrying that the battery might explode.. Would this happen?

  • The cable on my headphone jack tore in half, and I just successfully installed a new one. There is music playing, when there wasn't any before. But now it only plays in the right ear. Did I do something wrong? How do I fix this? Do I need to buy another headphone jack? PLEASE HELP! Thanks :)

  • will opening the ipod and removing the battery cause it to lose the data?

  • Right after putting the ipod back together, the ipod wouldn't turn on, still doesn't, any help ?
