I'm not sure about that either, but if it has a meaning, it would probably only apply to this short OVA series called Macross Plus. Maybe it signifies the distance between lovers? This story, like most Macross stories, involves love triangle. 3cm between lovers is definitely very short distance, but that would mean some distance still exists between them. The love triangle in the story is a bit messed up, because all three are not on very good terms with each other initially.

@Deyyhayederaned Y'know I've seen the series quite a few times and I never figured it out. It could just be the song title or it could be a mistranslation (I have the Japanese remastered set with English subs)

Yeah but Yoko Kanno should be known in the world like hell.
She is so awesome, but yet so unknown. Ask the people on the street " How do you like the music of Yoko Kanno? " and then compare with " How do you like the music of Madonna? "
