A slow day of crabbing and sanddab fishing. Our GPS module was not responding so we had to blind drop our crab pots. We dropped one pot in a sandy area and three pots in what we thought were rocky areas, then went sanddab fishing. The fishing was pretty slow so we called it quits and pulled up the pots in 3.5 hrs.

  • hey how does it work? do you have like 50 pots on the boat and then throw them all in the water attached to a rope?

  • @rubent100 Sorry for the late reply ... just logged in. Yes, but not that many. I usually have 3 or 4. Drop into the water, line attached to a floating buoy. Come back later to pick it up.

  • pudgeot sound is also a pretty good bet. we have done really well in the past around point defiance in anywhere from 45 to 100 feet deep....

  • Sanddabs are always in sandy areas, and the deeper, the better. It was pretty slow. We tried 175ft, then went out to 200ft, and then back to around 160. 175ft was the best. Not exactly sure, but we were probably around 7-10 miles offshore.

  • kewl, how far is the drive and what kind of bottom structure for those sand dabs?
