Here is KYW's test pattern and tone during the morning on or about January 1, 1986. Recorded locally. VHS SP-mode. Actual sign-off uploaded as separate video file.
@saml760 - Have you ever thought of putting up your clip of the KYW test pattern? I would presume that the calibration of the film chain/slide scanner used to transmit this TP slide would have differed from what's on here?
One other Group W station used this exact same test pattern design, that I know of: WJZ-TV (Ch. 13) in Baltimore, MD. The calls (set in the famous font) were on the lower left quad, directly above the city and state of license; from what I've seen, there was no "13 in a 13 in a 13" for the WJZ pattern as there was on KYW or even WBZ-TV (Ch. 4) in Boston.
I love this.

In addition, the film chains KYW used around this point were RCA TK-27's.

That test pattern would make for great desktop wallpaper!
