@mushal7james7tony - Before 1947 it belonged to France, and that was also determined artificially, just to determine the borders between France and Britain, that controlled the middle east at that time. And before 1918 it was part of Turkey. Syria only became a country in 1947, and occupied the Golan for only 20 years.

@mushal7james7tony - The Golan was part of Syria only 20 years (between 1947 and 1967). It's part of Israel now 44 years, and it's not likely to be ever returend to Syria. It's an Israeli territory now, with a lot of Israelis living there, and this is the reality.

Beautiful area... one of the most beauful areas of Israel, and most important in many aspects (security, agriculture, wine production, water, and more). Israel should never even negotiate to give this land to any country. Syria learned it the hard way, and that's the lesson for every agressive country that opens war and invades peaceful frienly country!

Actually, Ashkenazi Jews were from the Rhineland of Germany long before moving into eastern Europe but many are from Eastern Europe and Russia.
Actually, semitic is only a linguistic term that covers a lot of different people that speak languages of that group.
Finally, though Ashkenazim have lived in Europe for >2000 yrs, even the fairest most blond, blue eyed Ashkenazi more often that not will have Middle eastern genomes indicating ancient Israeli ancestry :)
