One is 1.5 inches in diameter and the other is 2.25 inches in diameter, both exceed the speed of sound. The fact is that the shock wave travels BEHIND the object causing it because it can only travel at the speed of sound. THAT is what causes it.

No matter what excuse you make up, the fact remains. There was audible no sonic shockwave, therfore it did NOT exceed the speed of sound at that temperature and barometric pressure.
