  • Yeah, I agree with streetnarrator, you guys are real dicks. This guy is just giving some good advice on something he obviously does for a living.......maybe it's not the most technical type of welding (I don't know) but it's the sort of stuff most people who watch these clips want to know about. Why are you guys watching an instructional clip anyway? I mean it's titled 'Welding 101' for fuck's sake

  • so wot is easyer mig or tig welding ive only welded twice some im absotly useless

  • @W857TYWH408576NW0348 what happened to him?

  • this man is dead. rip

  • @wiliamheadwoods mig is easier but tig is good but prefer mig but i do arc welding for most things

  • @kelicomfg

Sometimes forget to button up my shirt all the way or my sleeve has rolled up exposing part of my arm exposed. It happened at TAFE when I was doing my MMAW unit and holy smokes .. not fun to say the least. I've seen people welding in singlets and sleeveless tops frequently and all i can think is, is it really that much effort to grab your long sleeve shirt that is just sitting 5 steps away on your work bench?

  • it would be nice to see some of these guys actually show some safety procedures.

I mean.. some of the people seeing this are going to think.. "hey, thats cool, I can weld with my short sleeves, or in a tank top"..

I've got young people asking me about welding all the time, and when i show them what's going on.. the first thing is COVER UP.. cancer is too easy with this stuff. then, of course, the glasses, gaurds etc.. but.. if you dont know.it's a crappy thing to find out the hard way.

  • @WinstoN850

    nicely put. my thoughts exactly!!!

tatty's dont protect you from skin cancer.

  • @wiliamheadwoods MIG, it's simple, 3/4 inch away from the metal and squeeze the trigger. For TIG you have to strike the metal like a match with the electrode to start the connection but it can get stuck and need to be broken off, you will constantly be moving the elecetrode downwards as it burns off.

  • Yeah what your suppose to do is hold the torch over the weld which is called post flow. To protect the crater or end of your weld. Let the argon cool the weld down or you can get cracks in your weld. I'm more of a mig and stick welder. Unless I'm working with aluminum or stainless. But even with aluminum I'll use an aluminum mig

    Welder

  • @weldhawk1

    Workin on the tan ;D

  • Note, once done with a tig weld, don't pull the torch away immediately like this video shows. Hold the torch over the weld and let the argon protect the puddle as it cools. The argon keeps flowing for a couple seconds after the arc terminates.
