Saturday 21st January 2012 was a blustery day at Glasgow Airport with a strong crosswind. We'd assembled to catch the final batch of transiting Moroccan Texans leaving for Bordeaux in France. The only other movement worthy of our attention was the 11:44 EK27 flight from Dubai.

Little did we know the last minute drama that was about to unfold as the giant jumbo turned the power on following a dose of windshear and performed a "go around", landing safely at the second attempt..

  • Very nice shot! I like how you zoomed out to give a frame of reference... Not everyone remembers to do that...

As for those who say "Seen one, seen them all" Not every landing is the same... Take this example, I'm in the Aerospace industry and I have never seen a 777 rock like this on finals

Cheers, was indeed a special event for us GLA spotters!

  • I Don't understand plane spotting..seen one seen them all..

The HDC-SD750 was tripod mounted. The DSLR (with bad white balance) handheld.

  • brilliant video love that 777

  • that was just too good!!!

  • First of all, your panning ability needs some work .. also, so many very fine 'horizontal lines' visible .. and furthermore the pilot did a very fine job with the approach. It seems to me that the wind direction was not only "extreme crosswind" but appeared to be "gusting" from the tail. The "controllers" might have offered a different runway to approach, one with an 'improved' wind direction.

  • @teesfella lol as a pilot i disagree, you could apply that to anything in aviation, from aircraft to landings even to repeated routes, everytime i fly i encounter different things, see something i hadn't spotted before.

  • "gaun yersel big man" hahaa love it

  • WOW cheers, Beer is on the house. LOL

  • Superb footage - what camera did you use?
