Agnetha Faltskog began her singing career at the age of 15, when she passed an audition and was taken on by Bernt Enghardt's dance band, a group from the Huskvarna region of Sweden. The group's popularity grew and they were soon required to perform on week nights as well as Saturday and Sunday.
Agnetha had left school several months before, and was working during the day as a switchboard operator. She found it difficult to reconcile her two occupations. She would often return home at 5am in the morning, and have to be in the office by 8am, and soon began to suffer dizzy spells at work.
Agnetha recalls "One day I was so tired at work that I fainted and was sent home. My mother realised I was worn out and told me 'Now you've got to choose, you can't carry on like this!'. I too was well aware of that so I gave in my notice." Without hesitation, Agnetha opted for music.
A new life began for the young girl. She chose a repertoire of ballads and romantic songs, like her idol Connie Francis. Following the break-up with her boyfriend Bjorn Lilja, Agnetha sat down at the piano and almost instantly composed 'Jag Var Sa Kar' (I Was So In Love).
When she tried out her own songs with the band, the audience was very enthusiastic. Bert Enghardt decided to send a casette to Little Gerhard, a Swedish ex-rocker who had become a talent scout for the record company CBS-Cupol. Among the songs included was 'Jag Var Sa Kar'. The rest is history, Agnetha was on the road to stardom.
This video shows the promotional card used by Bernt Enghardt's band. Agnetha was then known as Agneta. Here's what it said on the card:

The only problem -
She is too good!
Listen to our recordings.
Disillusion is the only Abba album song written by Agnetha, with lyrics by Bjorn. It was recorded on March 14 1973 at Metronome Studio Stockholm, just a few weeks after Agnetha gave birth to their first child Linda. The song certainly doesn't shame its inclusion on the album Ring, Ring (1973). Lyrics:
Changing, moving, in a circle
I can see your face in all of my dreams,
Smiling, laughing, from the shadows
When I hear your voice I know what it means,
I know it doesn't matter just how hard I try,
You're all the reason for my life,
Disillusion, disillusion's all you left for me
How can I forget you when my world is breaking down,
You're all I had, you're all I want
Disillusion, disillusions now that's all I have
Wishing, hoping, chasing shadows
Did I see your face somewhere in the crowd,
Thinking, wondering, what you're doing
I can't stop myself from crying out loud,
They say my wound will heal and only leave a scar,
But then, they never shared our love
Disillusion, disillusion's all you left for me
How can I forget you when my world is breaking down,
You're all I had, you're all I want
Disillusion, disillusions now that's all I have
Disillusion, disillusions now that's all I have.

Yeah I think when god was handing out talents and good looks he said "she's the one - give it all to her". Agnetha is blessed with a nice personality too Myriam!
