This week we celebrate the 90th birthday of all time great baritone Robert Merrill. In this rare clip from 1957, we see and hear Merrill at his best in the Drinking Song from Hamlet. The tone is so rich and beautiful as to defy description, and this incredible voice, which perhaps was taken for granted by a few due to his almost 800 performances at the Met alone, set standards that have never been matched in dozens of different operas.
