@MohanndasChutney "Les Maitres-Tambours du Burundi" might be the album. I have it, and it's pretty much what you hear in this video, but, of course, slightly better sound, more tracks.
Apparently it was also released under other titles, but they've all become hard to find. Oh wait, iTunes has it. (Not a plug.)

There was an LP of Burundi drumming that made the rounds around 1980. I'm sure many, many producers and musicians heard it, since the Burundi Beat could be found throughout popular music shortly thereafter.

I always knew Adam And The Ants were influenced by Burundi but I never knew they had simply copied it note for note lol! Great stuff.

well said mtropx!!! you really have to be there to get the full experience of the drum resonating through your body. That's what makes the difference.

this is the sound I remember when I heard the Drummers of Burundi in 1982, at the 1st Womad bath & west showground, somerset. once heard, never forgotten!
