@jlockuptj if you wanna break it just to buy a new one, then why dont you just take that fucker out, sell the old WORKING tranny and buy the new one.

hahah same, I was drunk and I thought I was in 4Lo but went into the deep mud pit in 4Hi, got stuck, tried rockin....then before I know it she won't go into gear lol.

@jlockuptj Ive wheeled alot of manuals Ive got an auto in my jeep now and love it dont think I will ever wheel again with a manual.

Will as for cluthing I have a 97 2.5lt or better know as a 4 banger. Im still running a stock tranny andmoter and as soon as the tranny take a dump I will upgrade!!! Question? how long does a stock tranny last on these 4 banger? I do want to upgrade here soon!!!!!!!!! So with is better? A auto or a manual?????

@jlockuptj Mine lasted till about 110,000 miles. For a 2.5L I'd suggest keeping it manual. It would be better when you go wheeling too.

I know u mean well, It a 97 TJ/SE and Im still on the stock tranny :) The only thing that I had to change was putting in a full time detroit locker and regearing to 4:88 but NO engine work nor tranny work so far. Trust me I want to break the tranny for I can do an upgrade, But so far no luck :( so 12 yr's on a stock tranny and engine
