FAMU is just simply synonomous with greatness. These guys can hang with basically any group in the country and sit all but a very few down decisively. I'm an Auburn band alum, and my biggest regret of my time at Auburn is that we never could schedule FAMU. I'd have loved to have had both the Auburn Band and the FAMU band together on the same day in the same stadium. Nothing but respect from us tigers, folks...

in this video... there is about 210 members... 64 of which are brass players excluding the tubas. From the past 2008 season, the "100" had about 420 members.

there are alot of "good" bands out there... but bands that are "consistent" year in and year out other than FAMU... in my opinion... is tennessee state, southern, jackson state and bethune-cookman. Im sure there are others, but being "good' and being "consistent" are two different things.
Anyone can be "good" for one or two years... but it takes more than being "good" for a few years to be the creme of the crop

for them to have a band this size they dont play to the fullest ... su , asu, and jsu will blow just about as loud as famu if not louder and famu's band is way bigger

however, i challenge you to type in "FAMU WIND ENSEMBLE" in the search box and you can see and hear what we strive for here in everything we do... including the marching band. We strive for musicality in everything we do and we wont trade in musicality for a "louder" sound.
