This is my recipe for "taco Ring". Its a ring of cressant dough filled with taco meat and baked to perfection!

Ingredients:
1 Lb. Ground beef (Ground turkey works great too!
1 pkg. taco seasoning
5 Tbsp. Water
2 Tbsp. Chopped onion
1c. Shredded Cheese (Colby/Monterey Jack)
2 cans of Cressant dough

Lettuce, tomatoes, avacado and sour cream if desired!

Preheat oven to 400 F

-Brown meat, add seasoning,water and onion. Simmer until it thickens.
-Stir shredded cheese into the taco meat, remove from the heat, cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 10 minutes.
-While meat mixture is cooling down arrange your cressant dough triangles in a sun style pattern around a r round pizza pan.
-Spoon warm (not hot) meat mixture around the "sun".
-Fold the tips of the dough triangles (points of the "sun") over the meat and tuck it in the center of the ring.

Bake at 400 degrees F for about 15-20 minutes, or until browned.

Place "toppings" in the center or the ring, slice, and serve!!!

  • I just HAD to tell you; Yesterday was my son's 12th birthday. We just had a small gathering - almost everyone was snowed in! lol Anyway I asked him what he wanted to eat for his birthday. He said with joyful hesitation, "Can we have the Taco Ring?!" You KNOW it's a hit when the kids want it for their birthday. Plus he asks for it EVERY WEEK! lol

  • This was just ok when I made it. I actually thought the crescent dough is too sweet for something as savory as taco meat. I'd make it again, but with my own spice-infused dough. Thanks for the idea!

  • I added to the meat while cooking,1/2 a small chopped white onion,one clove chopped garlic,1/3 c cilentro,1/3 c chopped black & green olives, and 1 chopped green chili ...also i hard boiled 4 eggs,corse chopped,and after i put the meat mixture in the dough ring,I put the chopped hard boiled eggs in a circle around the outer edge of meat,then added cheese on top,then folded the dough up and around and pinched them to the middle. It was so much more tasty,trust me and do it my way,you will love it
