Dave Derr of Empirical Labs gives up the goods on the EL7 Fatso, a digitally-controlled analog tone machine that, despite its name, fits comfortably into one thin rack space. The Fatso is difficult to categorize, but it offers a multitude of signal-warming features, including harmonic generation and soft clipping, high-frequency saturation, transformer and tape head emulation, and "classic knee" compression.
