@bloodythinandfast Yes bozzio and Steve Smith along with Ian Pace and Buddy Rich obviously, but to it you can add Lenny White, Cobham, Narada Walden, Bonham, Royce Jr, the drummer from Sweet, and in some respect Buford oh let's not forget Blakey and Stweart Copeland.
@MrVeesworld as good?,okay...Danny Serraphine, really?A monster would Buddy Rich...If I were to drop names it would be more like Bozzio,Weckl,Colaiuta,Gadd,Palmer,Paice,Smith...Bellson,...smoke this!
@bloodythinandfast I can play as good and have been doing so since the 80's but could always learn more of course. Even if I played "better" I would not use that as a basis to slight him. Besides what is better anyway? Our style may differ and it does not make him or me better. I was stating again, that his solo was not as impressive especially amid the myriad of new generation soloist/drummist in our midst today. Grahm Lear? Now that is monster along with Danny Serraphine.
@MrVeesworld I would never say what you did out of respect,no-one will "smoke" Prairie,it's just a poor choice of words...and when you say he was awesome "way back when",makes it sound like he's less than that, which he isn't by a long shot...in this world there's always someone better,...solo-ing can be a bore and Mr. Prince has done his share since the sixties...everyone is entitiled to opinion,I only hope you can play as good or better to slight him.
@bloodythinandfast Listened to the Tubes since 1978 (my first concert in Sand Jose, Ca).
I always thought he had skills, and ability, however, in this particular video/solo..I might say somehting like what I said. Have you seen these drumming monster players out today?
@MrVeesworld Mick Tucker would be the drummer from Sweet!
