thats so LAME

@jewpez83 doesn't matter what the weapon is? how would you properly use a Chauchat if that was all you had?
-
Warfare is based on deception, hence in a mass attack, one needs to have their flanks and rear covered otherwise, its checkmate. Scout and OP should be extended to the flanks and the rear to relay information to the main line such that the reserve forces can commit to where ever a position is being attacked on either flanks or the rear.
By having a defensive force that isn't static with high mobility, your infantry must be lightly armed and stocked heavily with ammo. Provide counterpunch

If you're trying to repel mass attacks by guerrilla insurgents, yeah you can camp up on the highest building with a sniper rifle.
But against lets say a well trained modern army, they would already have observed your high points from far, placing artillery strikes and tank fire on those positions to reduce them to rubble.
What one can do is to have lots of ammunition, an extra barrel, pour down MG fire from tripod or bipod and then leap and bound to another position every minute.

they should just have had this guy as himself in modern warfare 3 to replace ghost

he term "human wave attack" was often misused to describe the Chinese short attack — a combination of infiltration and the shock tactics. A typical Chinese short attack was carried out at night by small fireteams on a narrow front against the weakest point in enemy defenses. They then launch surprise attacks relying on maximum shock and confusion. additional fireteams would press on behind them and attack the same point until a breach was created. They then flanked the enemy from behind
-
By the way, just to clarify to those who are unfamiliar with history, the Chinese "mass attacks" did not mean zerg rush using bayonets. The Chinese learned after WW2 that they are ineffective. Rather, by "mass attacks", what the Chinese did was persistently held their ground and kept on shooting like waves crashing against a shore against the UN forces while delivering accurate aimed fire with their bolt actions. The result? 1.2 million deaths vs 780k UN deaths, even when poorly equipped/armed.

Don't know why Larry Vickers needed to range the vehicle, the Barrett's scope has a BORS system installed on the scope, so that would've taken care of it.

@jewpez83 The weapon does matter. If your using a weapon that's not designed adequately for a geographic location, then you're already at a disadvantage.
Case in point m4's/m16's suck in dirty environments such as deserts and jungles. A ceased gun can cost you your life.
If a gun is unreliable then it does matter, because a gun that doesn't shoot is useless.

mass attack out in the field?
look earmuff
sorry gents but when i was there in '04 the SAW never let me down once. it doesn't matter what the weapon is, it's how you use it.
