Evanston is the closest-in of Chicago's North Shore suburbs and its downtown rivals almost any neighborhood in Chicago as a classically urban environment.

Earlier this morning I met Andy Kiener at Grand Bend at Green Bay, at the edge of downtown, for a walking tour of downtown.

In the first part of our tour, we started with a look at Grand Bend, where Andy's overseeing sales, and then walked a block and a half to the Farmers Market.

We moved on to the corner of Church St & Maple Ave for a look at the vibrant shopping, dining and nightlife scene that's developed downtown. In this segment we continue east to Sherman Ave for a look at more dining, nightlife and shopping options, and continue on to Fountain Square.

Our tour concludes in the next segment with a visit to Bookman's Alley, a restaurant row, and a roof deck at Grand Bend at Green Bay.
