Winter Summer Insitute: Contamination Waltz - Katt Lissard

Selections from the Winter/Summer Institute's 2008 Residency in Lesotho, southern Africa - http://www.maketheatre.org. WSI brings together groups from several continents to create and perform theatre as part of an active response to urgent social issues such as HIV/AIDS. Lesotho has the 3rd highest HIV infection rate in the world, and leads the world in longterm concurrent relationships. In 2008 students and faculty from Lesotho, the US, and South Africa gathered in Lesotho to create a touring show, 'It's Just You and Me...and My Wife and Your Boyfriend,' addressing Multiple Concurrent Partnerships and the spread of HIV/AIDS. Those members then collaborate and perform with a local theatre group made up of villagers from the mountains near Malealea. The village drama groups continue to tour, revise, and perform the show from village to village, using music, dance and drama to address these issues and help stop the spread of AIDS. - Katt Lissard, WSI Artistic Director.
