It's a kaliponi slack key song by KEOLA & BEAMER. On the Big W soundtrack its track number 2. TITLED: "MATT SURFS - KALIPONI SLACK KEY - BEARS SHACK"
it's 3 songs in one.

:33 that reminds me of so many mornings paddling out and waiting for the waves and waiting with my head laying on my board feeling the cold sea water.

what happens in life is you find moments of contentment- everyhting is flowing your way but it never lasts.
youth is the time for happiness because you don't have to work, your body can take all you throw at it and there is always time to back up from a mistake.
sadly, as you age your body begins to rebel against the excesses, you have to work and you are forced into the mold..and those same people who applauded your rebellion in youth shun you as an adult- if you aren't in the mold.

One of the most undeserved box office "tanks" in cinematic history. Clearly its brilliance went over the heads of the movie going public. A poignant, slice of life, period piece that captures ANYBODY'S home town high school to thirty something years. It wasn't really a surf movie. Surfing was merely the vehicle that moved the story.
Best 2 lines were from Bear:
1. "That's when you need a friend-when you're wrong. When you're right you don't need nobody."
2. "Growin' up ain't easy, is it?"
