  • Wonderful and very infomative of course i am one of those starry eyed dreamers and

one day hope to follow in your foot steps! could you list some of the equipment u used

and a cost break down 22 days on the water must be expensive i guess $ 3.00 a gallon

for 7 hours a day times 22 is $ 462.00 for the diesel engine and ? for the generator? thanks

  • @jjtheiceman : it was very inexpensive the way we did it. We used "Cruiser's Net" (online) and "Skipper Bob's" (click the link in the video description for the book) to cruise daily to anchorages (instead of marinas). We loaded our own food (the Prairie has great storage) made 2 stops for fresh groceries to supplement. Generator fuel was $40 (we have 2 Honda 2000's). Comparison: we just camped at a KOA in our camper: $57 (for the cheap spot) X 22 = $1254 just for the site . . .

  • Thank you folks so very much for the wonderful adventure on the water. I do hope to do the same one day in the future. I just hope there's still waterways that are navigable and places as friendly as you two have been. Thank you again and best wishes for safe and pleasant boating ahead.

  • @divisioneight : thanks for that - good luck on your own adventure whenever it happens (you can always buy a small (trailerable) boat (C-Dory, etc) and do it in stages . . .

  • Excellent series of videos. I enjoyed every single one.

  • @1mnstrbassplyer : Congratulations! Will meet up with you somewhere I'm quite certain - till then, safe boating to you!

  • @flagold Yes, I bought a 28 foot Bayliner Contessa Flybridge. It has a full kitchen, bathroom, forward V berth that is big enough for two easily. We have borrowed a few ideas from you to make the boat a little more comfy! lol Also bought the Honda 2000i for power. Can't wait to start the trip. May possibly have the boat trucked to Corpus Christie and begin the trip there. Still working on logistics. We get over to Hernando Beach and will give you a shout!! Hope to see ya on the waterways!!!

  • @1mnstrbassplyer : congratulations on making the decision! Currents vary near the inlet areas, but for the most part, you will find mild to almost non existent effects. At the inlets you can expect strong current flows within 2 miles of them during the final 2 hours of tide (tail end of a high or low water flows the most). Have you picked a boat?

  • Hey Matt!! Just a quick question. How were or are the currents on this trip? Looks like we are gonna start our loop in Jan 2012 and was wondering how the currents are on the Intracoastal.

  • Captn. Connie and Matt, I just finished viewing your ICW cruise with much delight. I was not aware that such a body of water existed to that degree. Having grown up primarily on the "Left" coast, seeing such a wonderful place to cruise was aw inspiring. You two obviously were made for each other, enjoying the same kinds of adventure. I am looking forward to viewing your other C-Dory trips and gold mining adventures.
