i think it's funny how all of you people commenting all moved to California after living in Kansas.

I lived in Manhattan too. And now live in Berkeley, Ca. I was born in Kansas and left Manhattan after the second grade. I still have such great memories being raised on Stagg Hill and attending Theodore Roosevelt Elementary School.
I visited again in 1992. Had a lot of fun. It's a unique Midwestern city. If you return just make sure you sleep in the basement..LOL! I probably would after hearing this story....

Wow! I remember riding motorcycles with my friend in that field when his dad was still building their home on Dehoff in 1977.
That is too close. Hope you have a basement:)

Which part of stagg hill did it come close to? I used to live on Allison Ave and Stagg Hill Rd??

I just came across this video as I lived on Stagg Hill in the 70's as a kid. I lived on allison Ave and Stagg Hill Rd. Was thinking about returning from California to buy my childhood home as it is currently for sale.. I asked myself after 30 + years amazingly no tornado's ever hit the home, which made me think it may be quite rare to hit the block I lived on for the most part. Does anyone know how far this tornado hit from where I used to live.. I have great memories of manhattan?:)
