  • Thanks guys for your response. What was actually wrong was the fuel I was using. Also over time the engine just needed to be cleaned with a diesel additive. Now, the engine is like new. Thanks for all your suggestions.

  • Hi all. Could anyone tells me how to fix the issues I have with my 1992 mercedes 2.5D Turbo (lefthand drive). Issue #1: when key is turned on, the cooling fan runs and still runs after engine is stopped untill battery dies. #2 : rpm meter is not working and ABS light comes on after stored car over winter. Your help is appreciated.

  • oh.. by the way I filled the tank to the top a couple hours ago.. I will have to try to refuel it in other station (after consumpting the actual) and add that additive.. uh?

  • Hello. Ei I have a Mercedes Diesel 1985 2.2 and it just started to sound just a liiittle bit like yours when at iddle and when you accelerate after a stop/light (I can hear it because of the wall eco) and at some point it stop doing that. I just read that on yours was the diesel you were using and I figured out that I refueled before that happened. So.. you think could be the Diesel fuel? Hope you can help me.

  • the other option besides the belt is the possible chance that you may need to replace your injectors. That has the sound of a faulty injector, but then again my injectors are to a 7.3L Ford IDI.

  • Hello there.

If im not wrong the sound you have is due to timing/cam belt not been fitted correctly.

I had a ford diesel car with 1.8D engine and one of the tensioner pulley bearings was gone causing the toothed belt (timing) to jump one tooth. That coused my car to sound like a truck even though the engine run sort of fine.

After replacing the belts and the faulty tensioner pully everything was fine again.

    Hope that helps.Take care :)
