PA State Rep Mark B. Cohen speaks at Philly Medical Marijuana Rally

July 11th 2009: PA State Rep Mark B Cohen speaks to supporters of safe cannabis access who gathered at 5th and Market Streets around 9PM on Saturday. Also speaking are Chris Goldstein and Derek Rosenzweig of PhillyNORML and PA4MMJ. Rep. Cohen, The Chair of the House Democratic Caucus is the main sponsor of the Compassionate Use Act, HB1393. The bill would create a state registry system, includes legal protections for home cultivation and allows for taxation through the proposed distribution system.

The Philadelphia vigil has been held in some form since 2003 by PhillyNORML, the local chapter of the national marijuana reform non-profit. Barry Busch, who lived with HIV/AIDS and was active in the group began the awareness effort and public call for medical cannabis access in PA. On July 11th 2007 Barry passed away and the vigil this year was held in his honor.

Let us as a people take note of any nay sayers on this vote and drag them kicking and screaming into the public light. If this doesn't go through we all will campaign against the nay sayers and go out of our way to do so
