@googlekopfkind hmmm...no sharps no flats and the tonica is G. so the only difference to a normal ionic major scale is the small 7 (tone F). if it was lydian, then the 4 would be sharped all the time and the 7 would be great (but its flat). yes there is a c sharp in the melody but not at the beginning.its simply the fith mode from c-major, whitch makes ist mixolydian or not?
I was reading about George Russel's Lydian Chromatic Concept, which asserts that the Lydian mode's tonic chord is more stable than that of the major, and surely enough Bach's Lydian work flows like a brook!
