Powerhaul Class 70001 Debuts Through Northampton

3rd December 2009 - Virgin Trains Class 390 heads north and crosses over with Freightliner Class 70 001, imaginatively named "Powerhaul" at Wilson's Crossing, as observed from the Mill Bridge, Kings Heath, Northampton. 70 001 was hauling 4L93, Birmingham Lawley Street to Felixstowe, and was immediately followed by a Freightliner Class 66 running light engine, which I took as "insurance" but have not included in this video as I was not sure of this.
First Impressions? Video footage and photos do not seem to do justice to the beast, which I quite liked, actually. It appeared small and powerful; must have been the body shape!

When it comes to proper diesel loco sounds todays locos are complete rubbish.
