I learned from the best - Warren : )
Very rough, I just watched the tutorial video, this was recorded about an hour and numerous tries later.
No editing software (so sorry about the beginning and end) I'll post again when I know the solo.

  • I know...my problems is in reverse...I'm a funk guitarist now playing metal...I didn't have the equipment for this, didn't have the right pedals and the attack was also off because of the way the drummer times the songs...it took me a year to learn this..so I understand but the one thing I like what your doing is that you will have a better understand of funk progression than a person who don't want to learn it...it's all about inventing yourself...you go man, you'll be rich in no time...

  • @WJRAGGS haha you play funk and you've gone to metal? odd fellow. Hope it's 80's Metal, at least that had abit of blues in it :) I love Maiden, Whitesnake and SAXON; all pretty turn it up and bash out a fat A chord. I dabbled with Hendrix and some Isley Bros. But I started on drums and played a Funkadelic track; I soon discovered Maggot Brain by them and Eddie Hazel... Metal just became second class from that point on.

Just turn everything to 11 to play Metal pal, no tech knowledge required ;-)

  • First thing you learn from playing Isley...is that his guitar playing is a highlight to the vocals....you will never hear Ernie playing over the vocals...first thing rock players want to do when playing hendrix or Ernie is start playing with a distort pedal... this music come from Blues not rock...learn how to use a Wah pedal for the rhythm...the Wah pedal is more that a Wah ...it's a volume pedal as well...other than this his playing is great...

  • @WJRAGGS Mate I completely know what you mean, I look back on this and cringe at my tone, The only sound I could get out of my amp was maxed out overdrive; also at this time I was playing aaaaalot of Iron maiden and Metallica, I was just getting into playing bluesy funky stuff; I've since bought a guitar with something other than Humbucker pickups as well ha. I'll have to upload some of the Hendrix and Eddie Hazel stuff I've been playing. Thanks for the comment pal.
