@JoeyFaustAGoGo Thanx for the info. FYI, according to the discography on the Billy Murray Web site (denvernightingale [dot] com), the Victor recording of "Moonlight Bay" was first recorded Dec. 15, 1911 (released as Victor 17034-A in March 1912 & withdrawn from the catalog in January 1923).

Don't know who the guys in the quartet photo were, but they definitely weren't the Premier Quartet (aka American Quartet). Damn good recording quality, BTW.

Had to ask: Were the cymbal, banjo, & chime effects added or electronically enhanced from the original? This is the first American/Premier recording (& I own a considerable number of them, including "Moonlight Bay" on the Victor label) where I could actually hear baritone Steve Porter clearly all the way through the song.

@schlesmail
It's possible the original uploader at "archive.org" could have cleaned up the sound.
I actually dated this wrong by mistake, it's a 1915 recording.
Edison Diamond Disc version,
Matrix number: 3743-A-3-1
Release number: 50258-R
As for the picture, that's all I found when I googled "Premier Quartet - Moonlight Bay"

Thank you for posting this with good sound. I have this Edison record but don't have the right set up to transfer them.

Just for the record (no pun intended), you don't need an old Victrola, those old thick Edison records play fine on a standard record player that has 78 rpm speed. You can usually find them at Good-Will or any resale shop for cheap, and some stores like Best Buy have new stereo's that supposed to look vintage that have phonograph players with 78 speed, or if you want to get high-tech there are some new record players with USB connection, so you can record directly to your PC.
