El Encanto Railway Venezuela in 1997

On April 4th of 1997, I was invited to ride on a private charter train along the former The Great Venezuelan Railway between Los Teques and El Encanto. That day two very special friends made all of the arrangements. My Venezuelan friends were Jaime Oliva Esteva and Francisco Oliva Esteva. Both had been instrumental in the preservation of this 11Km section of line in 1976. This video footage was taken by me on the day of my visit.
The Diesel Locomotive that day was GE Diesel type Bo-Bo 750hp built in June 1951 (works Number 30742).
I dedicate this film to my two dear friends Jaime and Francisco who were true railway enthusiasts.
It is very sad that this railway has not survived. It is one of the most beautiful lines upon which I have travelled. I hope my short video does it justice.

Gracias! No solamente me monte en este y otros trenes de El Encanto varias veces entre los 70's y 80's, si no que camine este tramo por lo menos unas diez veces con mi hermano y amigos, buenos recuerdos de mi ninez. Que lastima que se perdio. Saludos.

@Tropicorchestra Muchas gracias por sus comentarios. Es una verdadera lastima que El Tren del Encanto se perdio. Tuve la suerte de viajar en uno de los ultimos recorridos cuando tome el video. Si buscas en mi canal youtube tengo tres mas videos, mas viejos aun, del tren de El Encanto. Saludos
