This is Day 3 of our YouChoose '08 Spotlight week. Throughout this week we will be featuring a new video every day of presidential candidate Ron Paul talking about different issues. Please submit your questions, comments or your positions on the issues by posting your video comments on our video pages. (Posted August 3, 2007)
Paul has called for passage of tax relief bills to reduce health care costs for families
He would support a tax credit for senior citizens who need to pay for costly prescription drugs
He would also allow them to import drugs from other countries at lower prices
He has called for health savings accounts that allow for tax-free savings to be used to pay for prescriptions
Paul believes that the more government interferes in medicine, the higher prices rise and the less efficient care becomes

Dr. Paul knows the doctor-patient relationship and the free market reward good doctors and provide the best medical care. It's managed and govt medical care that tend to reward BAD medical care. Paul also supports tort reform which will lower medical costs tremendously. Doctors' liability insurance is the greatest cost to medical care providers. Of course this cost is just passed along to the consumer. Lower medical costs! No more govt mandated insurance scams. Ron Paul 2012!

@Deadwind002 Check the WHO report on Health Care (France was # 1) and also take a look at the Global Gallup Poll surveys of happiness. I like a lot of Ron Paul's ideas like ending wars/non-interventionist policy, auditing the Fed, and ending the war on drugs. However, i think his ideas of privatizing everything and ending income taxes completely are absurd and will not work.

I live in Canada. We have socialized health care -- it blows. I come from a fairly well-off family and at times I would much rather spend a bit more money in the U.S. and get treated promptly instead of waiting 24 hours in the E.R. for mediocre service. Also, the idea of paying for a smoking stranger's cancer treatment boggles my mind. I am interested in Ron Paul's plans and would like to see what he outlines in this video work out.

@id1337x: Greedy by nature? You've never heard of millions and billions being donated by charity? Free market lowers prices and raises quality. I've donated $1000 in a single day to starving children in the United States when I was in the Army. I guess it was my greedy nature that compelled me to do so.

I have a question. If universal health care is so bad then why is it that the European countries with socialized health care (like France for example) have the best health care systems and highest life expectancies and standards of living?
