What part of "the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed", needs to be ignored? I mean... I'm not gifted with the ability of being able to communicate to people, but I think the 2nd amendment is pretty clear. The minute you tamper with the foundation of a free country, it's no longer a free nation. Now it's up for grabs to anyone who can manipulate people into believing that text is not text.

hell half the cops in my town shouldn't be allowed to carry guns ! who is to determine your mental status ? cops? this country has become a joke ! if they take away guns and the majority of murderers use baseball bats are you goin to ban baseball bats ! i think law enforcement and politicians are afraid because they know the citizens are fed up paying their lucritive pensions and healthcare costs ! these people are the real criminals in this country ! from my cold dead hands ! revolution time !

@hogger129 - I don't own a gun because of the registry my friend, not because I'm against them. I am PRO guns & agree 100% with what you said. Almost everyone I know own firearms. I'm just disgusted with my country & the direction they were going with the gun confiscations via registry, which I heard they will soon be abolishing. I was told that you can make up a lie & say "This person" threatened me with a gun & via registry they can confiscate, it already happened!

Why not? It's not a BAD idea to own guns either. If you don't exercise your rights, they will disappear. I would agree with you if you have children around. I would think twice about owning the guns I had if I had children around. But at the same time I would teach them how to properly and safely handle it. Safety first. Accidents happen because people are uneducated. That's why we have hunter safety. That's why they make guns with safeties on them.

You know a good example of this is my own dad. Yesterday we went to the pistol range. Now he had a pistol before, but it was a .22 revolver. He rifle hunts, but has never shot a semi-auto handgun in his life. I have. On his first shot, he put his thumb in the wrong place and it got pinched in the slide. Now the reason was because nobody taught him how to properly and safely shoot. If we teach people safe & correct operation, less accidents will happen.

It also goes to show that guns don't hurt people, people hurt themselves. So educating people on the proper and safe use is what will reduce accidents, not taking them away. A car is as much a dangerous weapon as a gun. Difference is that a car is a 3k lb bullet compared to a 1 lb bullet. I'd be more afraid of a car than a gun. It just goes to show how silly and backwards gun bans are. In states where it's legal to carry, some places require so much range time. I think that's a great idea.

Because it gets people used to shooting their weapon and encourages safety and proficiency. That's what we need. Not bans. Taking something away all together never works. It never worked with anything. Prohibition never worked. The War on Drugs is obviously not working. The only thing that works is education.
